I just picked up one this last weekend and I am absolutely floored by it. The built-in Wolfson DAC is stellar (every bit as good as my Musical Fidelity vDAC), the phono stage is as good as any vintage Marantz I’ve owned, and it looks very nice. Two digital inputs, FIVE line level inputs, and it stays cool even after many hours of listening.
The build quality isn’t exactly great, but it’s serviceable and has very few reported problems in the thousands of reviews online.
It’s “only” 44wpc, but they are EXCELLENT watts! I’m driving a pair of Vienna Acoustic Bach’s and at 50% it fills my mid sized living room very well. Any speakers of even moderate efficiency would be driven to ear damaging levels without maxing it out.
At any rate, just thought I’d share as this comes up a lot. IMO, people always over estimate the amount of power you really need. Unless you’re running very particular vintage speakers like the Dahlquist DQ-10s, this amp will provide you ample, excellent sound for under $200.
EDIT: I forgot about maybe my favorite feature, the Loudness button! It really does a great job of compressing audio for lower volume listening. I have it on by default as this is my main TV audio setup. I turn it off if I’m going to be listening to music exclusively at more moderate/high volume.
